Technology, Today
The
dg System
The dg system is a new generation
lpg injection technology that accurately delivers lpg as a
liquid into large diesel engines. The dieselgas
technology reduces greenhouse gas emissions and cuts operating
costs, whilst maintaining driving performance.
lpg has
been used for more than 40 years in light vehicle spark ignition
engines in vapour form. The difficulty has always been to
get enough lpg into a large engine.
The dg
system solves this by injecting cold liquid lpg fuel (at -37?c)
into the cylinders on a sequential basis, utilising its world-patented
conjector (left). Liquid injection ensures accurate delivery
of the required fuel quantities and the vapourisation of the
fuel assists inter-cooling to improve the engine’s efficiency.
The dieselgas ecu ensures this
delivery is accurately timed to coordinate with the intake
of air and diesel.
dieselgas’
ecu has been fully mapped to optimise the required amount
of lpg and diesel for every engine speed and load combination
whilst performing within the parameters of the OEM’s
power curve specifications. Under typical freight tasks, the
fuel mix will contain at least 60% lpg, which, given lpg’s
significantly lower price profile and improved emissions characteristics,
delivers the cost and emissions savings. The vehicle’s
original diesel tank will be replaced by a bespoke diesel
and lpg tankage solution. The vehicle can still be operated
on 100% diesel at any time.
dieselgas’
system is non-invasive to the vehicle or OEM ecu.
System
availability
The dg system is available for
installation in the UK, initially on the DAF430 (Euro III)
with other Euro IV models soon to be released. No modifications
are made to the engine or chassis that would interfere with
the integrity of the original OEM design.
